Sharm El Sheikh Food Travel Tips — What Every Visitor Should Know
Planning your meals in Sharm El Sheikh? These food travel tips save money, time, and disappointment. Written by people who eat here every day.
Avoid tourist traps and eat like a local — practical food tips for every Sharm El Sheikh visitor.
Eating well in Sharm El Sheikh is easy if you know a few things. Eating poorly is also very easy — tourist-priced menus, mediocre hotel buffets, and unfamiliar restaurants are everywhere. Here are the things we wish every visitor knew before their first meal.
Don't Eat Exclusively at Your Hotel
Hotel restaurants in Sharm charge a significant premium — often 2–3× local prices for the same food. Even all-inclusive guests should venture out (or order in via Bringit) at least once. The difference in quality and price will be striking.
The Promenade Has Tourist Pricing
Restaurants right on the Naama Bay promenade are aware of the tourist market and price accordingly. The food is usually fine but the value is poor. Walk one or two streets back from the seafront and prices drop noticeably while quality stays the same or improves.
Tap Water Is Not Safe to Drink
This applies everywhere in Egypt. Always order bottled water. Most restaurants provide it as standard, and you can stock up via Bmart delivery if you're in an apartment.
Use a Delivery App for Best Value
Bringit lets you compare current restaurant menus, prices, fees and availability in the app before ordering. For hotel guests especially, delivery is almost always better value than on-site dining.
- Always order bottled water — tap is not drinkable
- Walk away from the promenade for better prices
- Try Egyptian food — it's the best value and most authentic
- Delivery via Bringit for hotel rooms = no restaurant markup
- Cash in EGP is widely accepted; card payment is available on Bringit
